A groundbreaking ceremony was held on Tuesday, May 17th for the new 2100 Memorial Senior Living Community development, which replaces a longtime senior living facility damaged in the wake of Hurricane Harvey. The new five-story community will offer 196 affordable units exclusively for senior residents. Residents who previously resided at 2100 Memorial will be given the first opportunity to return to the new community when it is complete.
The new building, designed by JHP Architecture out of Dallas, includes increased flood mitigation measures and units for seniors of varying incomes, from those making 60 percent or below of the region’s median income to those able to pay market rates.
The Atlanta real estate company Columbia Residential will develop the project and provide property management services, and the Baton Rouge construction firm Block Companies will serve as the general contractor.
The construction will take some time, but 2100 Memorial will welcome its residents, both past, and future with open arms!
