Mama Ninfa's Tacos y Tortas at new Downtown food hall Understory

The Mama Ninfa’s tradition continues in Houston with a new concept that’s scheduled to open in Downtown’s new food hall Understory at 800 Capital Street. Tacos y Tortas is a fast-casual offshoot of legendary Tex-Mex restaurant The Original Ninfa’s. The cozy 622 SF tunnel-level suite will offer breakfast, lunch and dinner daily—serving Mexican-style sandwiches, grilled redfish with chipotle aioli, Tinga de Pollo, bacon-wrapped Gulf shrimp with chorizo remoulade, an all-day breakfast menu, and of course the famed Ninfaritas.

“It’s exciting and gratifying to bring this new concept to the Houston dining scene – and we’re very pleased to launch Mama Ninfa’s in such an excellent location, which combines steady foot traffic in the tunnels with unique street-level exposure… With the history surrounding The Original Ninfa’s brand and the public’s appreciation for the tradition and quality associated with The Original Ninfa’s on Navigation, we think Mama Ninfa’s Tacos y Tortas will find an enthusiastic audience in Houston and in the surrounding areas.”

Waterman Steele Real Estate partners Emily Durham and Lance Gilliam were proud to have represented Legacy Restaurants in their first of many Tacos y Tortas outposts. Future Mama Ninfa’s locations will be fast-casual restaurants (counter-service), with a prototype design of approximately 2,000 – 2,500 SF and seating for 80 – 100 people.
